The Project

MINE, YOURS, OUR WALL

Youth Expression through Participatory Art

Mine, Yours, Our Wall is a European cooperation project that empowers young people to reimagine and transform school and community spaces through participatory art.

The project engages young people aged 10–18 in creative processes that allow them to express their voices, ideas, and identities by transforming school walls and public spaces into meaningful works of art.

Through collaboration between artists, educators, schools, and local communities, the project encourages youth participation, creativity, and civic engagement while strengthening the sense of belonging within local environments.

By turning everyday spaces into platforms for expression and dialogue, Mine, Yours, Our Wall promotes inclusive, creative, and community-driven urban environments across Europe.

Our Vision

We believe that public spaces should reflect the voices of the communities who use them — especially young people.

Mine, Yours, Our Wall promotes participatory art as a powerful tool to empower youth, foster creativity, and encourage active citizenship.

Through collaborative mural creation and artistic workshops, young participants develop artistic skills, critical thinking, and a stronger connection with their communities.

Our vision is to transform schoolyards and public spaces into living canvases of youth expression, dialogue, and creativity.

What is Mine, Yours, Our Wall?

Mine, Yours, Our Wall is a European cooperation project that promotes youth participation through participatory public art.

The project empowers young people to actively engage in the transformation of school and community spaces by designing and creating murals that reflect their ideas, stories, and identities.

Through guided workshops with artists and educators, participants explore artistic techniques while also discussing topics such as identity, belonging, community, and shared spaces.

The project creates opportunities for youth to become active contributors to their environments, turning ordinary walls into powerful expressions of creativity and dialogue.

Why It Matters

Across Europe, young people often have limited opportunities to influence the design and transformation of the spaces they use every day.

Schoolyards, neighbourhood walls, and public areas are often shaped without youth participation, leaving little room for their voices, creativity, and perspectives.

At the same time, many communities struggle with neglected or underused public spaces that fail to inspire engagement or a sense of belonging.

Mine, Yours, Our Wall addresses these challenges by:

• Giving young people a creative voice in shaping their environments
• Promoting participatory art and civic engagement
• Transforming neglected walls into meaningful community artworks
• Encouraging dialogue between youth, schools, artists, and local communities

Our Approach

The project combines art, education, and civic participation.

Young participants work together with artists and educators to co-design murals that reflect their experiences, aspirations, and collective identity.

Key elements of the project include:
• Participatory art workshops with youth
• Collaborative mural creation in schools and public spaces
• Artistic mentorship from professional artists
• Dialogue between young people, schools, and local communities
• Creative expression as a tool for civic engagement

By involving youth directly in the transformation of their environments, the project promotes creativity, ownership, and community connection.
